WHO AM I?
The creator
Passionate about jewelry and fashion since childhood, I started my career as a " fashion lover " in my grandmother's jewelry box - sometimes with approximate looks - before continuing it in the big fast-fashion malls as a teenager - team Stan Smith, Zara jeans, Creeks down jacket -... In 2015, I watched " Cowspiracy " and " The True Cost " and I learned about the ecological damage that the fashion and leather industry causes... After the shock, I revised my copy in terms of consumption. I stopped eating meat and fast-fashion ... and started a professional reconversion with the firm intention of leaving advertising, my initial job (artistic director in advertising agencies editor's note) to set up my own jewelry brand, promote alternatives to animal leather and local production in small quantities.
Matcha Paris was born in 2016, with the desire to return to a form of pure creation but also to register the brand in the movement of creators who work to profoundly transform the fashion sector, by promoting French manufacturing and using eco-responsible and ethical materials. Being an actor of change is today essential for me as a consumer but also as a brand. #ethicalfashion

WHAT ?
I choose my raw materials carefully, ensuring that they are ethical both in terms of the material itself and the working conditions of the people who make it.
Matcha jewelry is made of organic materials: - cork alter-leather and Piñatex
- bamboo purchased as scraps from a French carpenterCork alter-leather is made in Portugal from tree bark that is peeled (no need to cut down the tree) every nine years. This unique process allows the tree to release 30% more oxygen. Cork alter-leather has a soft feel, is moisture-resistant, antibacterial, hypoallergenic and very light. Piñatex is made from cellular fibers extracted from pineapple leaves (which are usually discarded during harvesting). It is a way of recycling waste and creating additional income for farmers during the harvest. These two materials offer the possibility of creating unique jewelry, and represent remarkable alternatives to animal leather. Recently, I have integrated lead-free brass gilded with fine gold into my collections. The majority of the brass used comes from Greece and is gilded in Paris. There are some brass pieces that come from Turkey and Israel in the collection. I design the jewelry by hand and make it in my workshop in Paris.

FOR WHAT ?
Understanding the process
It was very important for me to create a quality brand,
environmentally friendly and cruelty-free, which is part of a desire to improve our consumption habits, particularly regarding animal leather. Indeed, while the media never stop talking about automobile pollution, oil, no media talks about pollution following the production of leather.
Choosing to wear vegan leather over animal leather is first and foremost an ecological choice. Current industrial farming is a disaster for our environment:
- It alone represents 18% of global CO2 emissions (more than the transport industry (planes, ships and cars) combined)
- It is the primary cause of deforestation and, in fact, of species extinction, because space is needed to grow the cereals that are used to feed livestock.
- It is also the primary cause of pollution of the oceans and of these areas called dead zones, where nothing lives anymore due to the lack of oxygen.
- Furthermore, 80% of the leather produced worldwide comes from countries that still use chrome in tanneries, another disaster for the environment and for the workers in contact with such a toxic material. And finally, of course, no animals are killed. You can find more information on this subject in the edifying documentary produced by (the handsome) Leonardo Di Caprio " Cowspiracy ".

WITH WHOM ?
My sidekick: Simone, best intern in the universe
Simone is a breeding female who was no longer "useful" to the breeder. She was looking for a comfortable basket for retirement and no one wanted her because of her old age. She contributes to the brand... by providing her support: mainly moral (she is not the most dynamic intern...). She likes zucchini, clementines and baths. If you too want to save a Simone, go take a look at Seconde Chance , there are thousands of animals to adopt!
